What would you do if the dials on a washing machine sent you through alternate realities?
A man suffocated by solitude reorganizes a toolbox a day. He comes across a priceless golden comb under a dirty screw – he plans to sell it, granting him unrivalled riches that will break him free of his loneliness.
The day he decides to sell it, he must visit his grandmother who insists that he take her laundry to the laundrette. He agrees, only to knock his comb into a washing machine… the door becomes stuck, as does the O-ring, fiddling back and forth with settings. Each setting on the washing machine sends him into an alternate reality, the only consistent variable being a girl named Fia.
This female-led production visits themes of memory, the loss of time, and new beginnings that can only exist by revisiting old ones, represented through the ever-changing faces of Fia and our protagonist Marcus who must explore what truly matters, instigated by the simple dial of a washing machine.
And here is a little fun video, from us! This doesn’t necessarily reference the script but follows the same idea of a man being plunged through alternate realities by the dials of a washing machine. We wanted to try and prove our creativity and dedication to the project and we are excited to share this with you!
